I went to Albuquerque New Mexico a few weeks ago and had had enough time to check out one of the hiking trails that was close by.

I was able to talk a couple of my crew members into coming out on the hike with me and we had a great time out on the trail chatting and getting fresh air and admiring the New Mexico mountains.
We went up to the foothills to the Embudito Canyon Loop trail head. I used Alltrails.com to find a trail that was close by and one that we could do within an afternoon. The trail is 3.9 miles as a loop and we did the hike clockwise. It is a bit of a scramble on the way down but by the time we were heading that way we were in the shade during the hottest part of the day. We had started at 1 and then ended the hike around 4. We took it slow stopping in any shade we could get as we hiked up and then took a bit of time at the top of the hike and found a nice spot on a boulder to take in the views.
We then took kept with the trail on the loop staying in the shade during the hottest part of the day as we scuttled through the boulders as we descended down the canyon.
I have been trying to make sure on the longer overnights to get out and to enjoy my time by getting outside and getting out into nature. I have been to Albuquerque a few times before for work and hadn’t gotten to experiance the area in this way. I am so glad that I did.
After the hike we got back to the hotel and the first officer and I decided to go and get a drink. We went to Broken Trail’s Brewery first and then went and checked out B2B Garden Brewery for food and another drink.
I say definitely check out B2B Brewery, the staff were great, the tacos were delicious and the beer was good as well.
And here are some more pictures from the trail……
with love,

Looks like a lovely place to explore on foot! I’v never been on a trail with cacti surrounding it and I wouldn’t mind exchanging it for muddy Irish trails. Thanks for sharing and have a good day. The sun is finally shining in Sligo 😀 Aiva
oh, I think you would enjoy a hike in the high desert. The cacti, juniper, sage and lavender and Pine Trees give such an aroma. I am glad you have finally had some sun. The temps in Utah have finally started to mellow out from their 100’s and 90′ degrees. I hope your family has a lovely weekend enjoying the Irish country side.
